The Center for Asian Legal Exchange (CALE) and Graduate School of Law (GSL), Nagoya University, were honored to host Dr. Le Thi Anh Nguyet (American University Washington College of Law) for a hybrid workshop titled “National Security Exceptions in Investment Treaty Arbitration” on May 18, 2026. The event brought together students, researchers, and practitioners from Japan and abroad.
Dr. Nguyet offered a rich and insightful analysis of how national security exceptions have been invoked and interpreted in recent investment treaty arbitration cases. The workshop generated active engagement from participants.
CALE and GSL extend their heartfelt appreciation to alumna Dr. Nguyet for returning to share her expertise at the event. Her continued engagement with both institutions is deeply valued, and we are proud to witness her contributions to international economic law. We look forward to welcoming her back again in the future.
