MODERNIZATION OF VILLAGE CODES IN EAST ASIA: Comparative Studies among Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese Cases

The objective of this Symposium is to deepen our understanding on the process and results of modern transformation of traditional village codes in East Asia. The topics will include (1)what were the village codes in China, Korea and Vietnam in the traditional age? (2) how have village codes been changed in the process of modernization in each country? (3) what is the current value of village codes? All sessions of the Symposium will be held in the Conference Hall on the 7th Floor of the Integrated Research Building for the Humanities and Social Sciences, Nagoya University. The symposium is sponsored by the Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research of the JSPS.
