Courtesy Visit to the Japanese Minister of Justice, H.E. Ken Saito

On December 13, 2022, the Center for Asian Legal Education (CALE) and the Research and Education Center for Japanese Law (CJL), Nagoya University paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Justice, H.E. Ken Saito, along with the Nagoya University President Naoshi Sugiyama. The visit was to express our gratitude to the Minister of Justice for the special letter of appreciation given to CALE on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of CALE’s establishment in September 2022.

International students from Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Mongolia, who have completed the CJL program and are currently enrolled in the Graduate School of Law, expressed their gratitude for the Japanese government’s support for legal reform in their countries, and stressed the importance of human resource development based on their own experiences. Minister Saito was surprised at the high level of students’ competence and offered words of encouragement. The international students found this visit beneficial and reiterated their intention to continue building bridges between their home countries and Japan.
